Position Description:

Teen Hype seeks a dynamic, motivated, mission driven person to fill its full-time salaried Director of Advancement position. Reporting to the CEO s/he will serve as a visible leader-manager to evaluate operations, analyze data and information, and recommend solutions to help achieve strategic division and goals. This position will closely collaborate with Board and staff to ensure that resources are used effectively to grow a culture of increased philanthropy and volunteer leadership to Teen HYPE. This Director is responsible for growing, managing and stewarding all aspects of development activities including fundraising campaigns and events as well as foundation, corporate and government grants and relationships.  Executing a comprehensive strategy of financial development and support, the Director of Advancement represents Teen HYPE to the philanthropic community, coordinates solicitation efforts between Board, volunteers and staff, and the community. The Director manages the portfolio of new and existing donors to reach the annual revenue targets set by the Board of Directors and will serve as the main point of contact for the donors to help deepen their relationship and increase their support for Teen HYPE.

Position Responsibilities:

• Help establish, in conjunction with the CEO, guidelines, systems and procedures for development practices

• Create annual development plan each fiscal year, with a minimum of quarterly written board updates
• Provide regular content and updates for website, newsletters, and social media on development activities
• Monthly development board reports and budget/actual tracking
• Manage calendar of foundation/grant deadlines and be responsible for timely preparation and writing of letters of intent, grant applications, status reports and final reports
• Ensure appropriate recognition, compliance, and reporting for corporate, foundation, and government donors
• Provide daily management, working closely with the CEO and program staff to ensure annual goals and objectives for advancement are met. 

• Lead the effort to implement a structured, formalized approach to relationship management, building on existing system. 

• Design and implement and/or maintain a structured fundraising program as an aspect of the organization’s overall program and as economic resource development. 
• Work collaboratively with staff members to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects. 
• Develop strategies for and coordinates all fundraising activities of the organization in keeping with organization’s goals. 
• Aggressively seeks new corporate/foundation funding sources and maintains relationships with current/past donors. Represents organization in meeting with potential funding sources.

Basic Qualifications:

• Five or more years of development experience, including nonprofit grant writing experience.
• Must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization. Exude passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, and self-confidence.
• A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
• Excellent written communication skills, with demonstrated experience in crafting successful grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports and other funding communications.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet programs and familiarity with database programs.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ability to think strategically and implement tactically. 
• Ability to be flexible and take initiative, adapt to last-minute changes, contribute independently and as part of a team, manage multiple schedules and deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of eTapestry.
• Experience using the Benevon fundraising model a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience serving as a representative of, and within, an organization, with the ability to build rapport with funders and internal stakeholders. 
• Experience in leading foundation and corporate cultivation activities, including stewardship, recognition, prospect research, gift administration and development policies and procedures.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and oversee fundraising events
• Excellent presentation and meeting management skills.
• Work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people; 
• Experience working with volunteers. 
• Interest and/or experience with youth and education a plus.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree, CFRE preferred (Preferable: business, nonprofit management, or public administration)
